    Dear Parent/Guardian,
     
    Leroy Massey Elementary School, students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand our district’s and school’s goals for student academic achievement. 
     
    Chattooga County School System Goals:
     
    *Chattooga County System Goals are as follows:
     
    ---Establishing internationally competitive standards for student performance and an accountability system and policy framework designed to insure that all students are challenged individually and collectively to meet more rigorous standards.
     
    ---In collaboration with technical colleges, other institutions of higher learning and the local business community, insuring that vocational/technical education programs prepare students for a diverse and technologically rich society.
     
    ---Insuring that all students and staff have a safe and secure environment for teaching and learning.
     
    ---Attracting, retaining and training the best teachers, principals and support staff.
     
    ---Utilizing, technology both to improve student achievement and to increase the school district’s productivity and efficiency as a major business enterprise.
     
    ---Increasing parental and community involvement through public engagement policies and practices that treat parents, businesses, community-based organizations and agencies, local institutions of higher learning and other public entities as true partners in the educational process.
     
    ---Reviewing the potential for utilizing the school district’s existing public education facilities to establish self-supporting community school evening/week-end education programs for interested Chattooga County adults.
     
    Leroy Massey Elementary School Goals:
     
    *In addition to system goals, Leroy Massey Elementary School’s goals are aligned with the State Performance Targets on the CRCT:
     
    ---93.3% Passing on the ELA portion of the CRCT
    ---88.3% Passing on the Math portion of the CRCT
    ---95%  Passing on the Reading portion of the CRCT
    ---82.1% Passing 0n the Science portion of the CRCT
    ---81.1%  Passing on the Social Studies portion of the CRCT
     
    To help your child meet the district and school goals, the school, you, and your child will work together to:
     
    School Responsibilities:
     
    Leroy Massey Elementary School will:
     
    1.        Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards by:
     
    *Leroy Massey Elementary School will teach the standards based on the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in an environment that is conducive to learning.
     
     
     
    2.        Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. 
     
    *Parent/teacher conferences are held each 9 weeks. It is discussed in each conference what each party involved should do concerning the child’s education (School Compact). Parents are allowed to set up conferences whenever the teacher is available.
     
    3.     Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.
     
    *Progress Reports are sent home every 4 ½ weeks
    *Report Cards are sent home every 9 weeks
    *Take home folders are sent home weekly with graded papers
    *Daily reports are sent home through student agendas
     
    4.        Provide parents reasonable access to staff. 
     
    Parents able to contact/communicate with teachers by:
    *Email communication
    *Parent meetings are made during teacher’s planning period
    *Before or after school meeting times are available to conference with teachers
     
    5.        Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities as follows:
     
    Parents are given the opportunity to volunteer/participate/observe by:
    *Setting up a time with the teacher to observe classes
    *Communicate with teacher to determine opportunities to volunteer (classroom activities, field trips, etc.)
    *Participate in PTO meeting and activities that are held each semester
     
    Parent Responsibilities:
     
    We, as parents, will:
     
    *See that my child attends school regularly in order to stay on pace with the standards being taught
    *Ensure that my child is prepared for school and completes assignments/projects
    *Communicate with the teacher regularly to monitor academic/behavior progress
    *Attend all conferences and meetings relating to my child’s education
    *Provide assistance to my child as an extension of what is being taught at school
     
    Student Responsibilities:
    *Attend school on a regular basis
    *Come to school prepared to learn
    *Be responsible for my learning
    *Complete all assignments and study for my tests
    *Read 20 minutes daily outside of school
    *Give my parents/guardians all teacher notices and other information sent home
    *Be responsible for my actions knowing that I can and will learn
     
    Please review this School-Parent Compact with your child. This School-Parent Compact will be discussed with you throughout the year at different school-family events as we work together to help your child succeed in school.
