Hope Burge graduated from Chattooga High School in 2005. After graduating, she attended college at Auburn University and Mississippi State University. She earned a B.S. in Animal Science from Auburn University. Ms. Burge went on to earn a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University. She worked as an equine veterinarian in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia until December of 2019. In February 2020, she became the Director of Meat Inspection of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce. She said some of her greatest accomplishments were “Graduating veterinary school and becoming proficient in my career as an equine veterinarian.” Dr. Burge stated that Chattooga High School prepared her for her future by being involved in the National FFA Organization, 4-H, and other leadership opportunities that she was provided while attending Chattooga. These experiences as a CHS student helped to prepare her for the career path she had chosen. Burge states that all of her teachers throughout her time at Chattooga High School were important in shaping her into the person she is today.
