    Instructor: Mr. Chris Conley

    Greetings!

I am extremely honored and excited to begin my second decade of teaching in Menlo. I live on Lookout Mountain with my wife, a middle school teacher, and two children, ages 10 and 13. We have enjoyed a great summer full of activities and are ready to get back to work and school.

Since earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kent State University during the last century, I spent a dozen years working for newspapers in Southwest Florida and Northwest Georgia before earning my Master’s Degree in Education from Berry College. I followed that with an Education Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University. I spent the last 10 years at LaFayette Middle School teaching Language Arts and Social Studies, which I will continue in Menlo. I also am very excited about teaching a newsletter class during Extended Learning Time and share my knowledge of writing, graphic design, and especially photography.

I am a great fan of technology and all that it offers in today’s educational setting and as a segue to the future working world my students are quickly approaching. We will regularly use Google Classroom to create and store materials that can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection. I also build and host various practice tests, vocabulary lists, writing assignments and everything else we can access online for students to use and practice to assist them in a successful seventh grade year.

I love to learn and experience new things and hope you will be patient as I navigate my new educational setting. I have been impressed with the structure and professionalism of the school system and hope I can add to its excellence in my own way. The staff at Menlo Elementary School have been very warm and welcoming and live up to all of the great things I have heard over the years about this wonderful school I have been fortunate to join.
