  • NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

    The Chattooga County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in the property tax by 9.90 percent.

    All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Chattooga County Education Center located at 206 Penn Street, Summerville, GA on 8/11/2022 at 10:00AM and 8/11/2022 at 4:30PM.

    Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase will be held at the Chattooga County Education Center located at 206 Penn Street, Summerville, GA on 8/23/2022 at 6:00PM.

    This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 12.000 mills, an increase of 1.081 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 10.919 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $51.80 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately $32.40.
